New publishing agreement with eLife for investment in open access
Researchers from all of the Bibsam Consortium’s participating institutions can publish in eLife without charges for authors or institutions.
As an outcome of Swedish research funders' strategic decision to jointly cover publishing costs with fully open access publishers, a new Bibsam agreement has been concluded with eLife. The publishing agreement enables all researchers affiliated with any of the Bibsam Consortium’s participating institutions to publish in eLife, regardless of article type, and without fees for the author or the institution.
The costs of the agreement are jointly covered by the Swedish Research Council, Formas, Forte, and Vinnova. Similar publishing agreements have been concluded with Copernicus, Frontiers, JMIR Publications, MJS Publishing, and PLOS.
About the agreement with eLife
Established in 2012, eLife is a fully open access, not-for-profit scientific journal that publishes research in all areas of the life sciences and medicine.
The agreement with eLife is effective from April 1, 2024, and runs until December 31, 2024. It is estimated that researchers affiliated with the Bibsam Consortium’s participating institutions will publish about 20 articles under this agreement.
