Reports on public engagement in science and Open Educational Resources now published in English
The National Library of Sweden (Kungliga biblioteket, KB) has published English versions of its reports on public engagement in science and Open Educational Resources.
KB was commissioned by the Swedish government to analyse ongoing efforts to promote public engagement in science as it relates to the public library system. Through surveys and interviews, KB examined how Swedish libraries work to engage users in research. As part of the commission, the organization Public & Science (Vetenskap & Allmänhet, VA) also carried out a survey of the field of citizen science in Sweden and in foreign libraries.
The report on the government commission, including findings from both KB and VA, was published in Swedish in January 2023.
KB was also commissioned to investigate the use of Open Educational Resources in Sweden, with a focus on the public library system. Under this remit, KB carried out surveys, interviews, meetings and roundtable discussions and, in October 2022, published a report (in Swedish) on its findings.
English translations of both reports have now been published. The results from these reports have informed KB’s work to develop national guidelines for open science, which will be submitted to the government by January 15, 2024.
