Filmarkivet.se contains 100 years of films, freely accessible whenever you want.

In Filmarkivet.se you can view around 2000 films, from 1897 to the present day. Documentaries and newsreels dominate the selection, but there are also commercials and children's films. Filmarkivet.se is a collaboration between the National library and the Swedish Film Institute.

How to search

You can search the material in several ways. The simplest is to search by free text, but you can also use the advanced search to filter by film title, character name, keyword, city, landscape or year. You can also browse through the "Movies A-Z", "Categories" and "Themes" sections.

Streamed movies

The films are streamed to you as a user. For copyright reasons, it is not allowed to download the videos. If you want to re-use them, please contact filmarkivet.se@filminstitutet.se.
