Bläddra
Bläddra is a tablet and mobile app where you can read e-books in Finnish, Yiddish, Meänkieli, Romani Chib and Sami.
Browse for literature for adults, young people and children. The books are accessible from anywhere in the country and you can read them without being connected to the internet. You don't need to create an account or log in.
There is no cost to download and use Bläddra.

How to use Bläddra

You can download Bläddra from the App store and Google play, depending on your phone or tablet. Search for "Bläddra" to find the app.

To start using Bläddra, you need to give your consent to the National library's processing of your personal data. This is due to the Data Protection Act, GDPR. More information about Bläddra and GDPR can be found here

Select your main language by swiping to the right or left. If you have selected Romani Chib or Sami, you can also select one or more varieties. However, you can only select one main language at a time.
You can change the main language later under "Inställningar" (Settings).
Yiddish

Once you have selected the language, and any variants, all available books are displayed. Titles are sorted by age category. If you have selected Romani Chib or Sami and want to see books in more or fewer varieties: click on the arrow at the top of the view to switch.
My books (Mina böcker)
Press "heart" on a book to save it under "Mina böcker" (My books). If you want to delete a saved book: Go to "Mina böcker", press the three dots next to the book and select "Ta bort" (Delete).
Borrow the book by pressing the down arrow. It will then be available offline.

Borrow and read!
When you press "Låna och läs" (Borrow and Read), the book is downloaded immediately and becomes available offline. Also, when you download a book that you have "Tillagd" (heart), a loan is initiated.
Loan period and renewals
Once you have borrowed a book, you can read it offline for four weeks. Then the download is removed. You can easily renew the loan by choosing to download the book again, and you can renew the book an unlimited number of times. You can see when loans expire on the book page and under "Mina böcker" (My books).

Bookmark and navigate
While reading, you can bookmark specific pages. To do this, press the symbol to the left of the 'A' above the book page. You can then use the menu on the far right to jump directly to your bookmarks. From the same menu, you can also navigate the book using the Content and Pages selections.

You can also change brightness, text size and scrolling, among other things, to customise your reading. Click on the A symbol at the top to open the options.
Brightness
Drag the slider to the right to brighten and to the left to darken.
Text size and font
Press the left A several times to decrease the size and the right A to increase it. Change the font in the menu just below.
Background colour
Choose between standard, sepia and natt (night).
Scrolling
Choose whether to read by swiping horizontally or scrolling vertically.
Advanced settings
Here you can change the formatting of the book, for example adjust line spacing by pressing the plus or minus icons.

Under "Inställningar" (Settings) you can:
- Change the main language of the books in the app. Don't forget to press "Spara ändringar" (Save changes) after making a new selection.
- Choose if you want to show the shortcut to the last book in progress ("Visa genväg till pågående bok").
- Choose if you want the app to show help messages ("Visa hjälpmeddelanden").
