Kulturarw3
Swedish websites from the mid-1990s onwards.
In Kulturarw3 you can search more than 500 million Swedish websites. The oldest sites are from 1997, when the project started.
How to search
To view the collected websites, you need to come to the National library in Stockholm and use our Kulturarw3 computer. Here you enter the web address (URL) you are interested in looking at. You cannot search freely for a word or subject, but must enter, for example, "www.sf.se" to find old pages on the Swedish film industry. You can then see at what times the site has been collected.
Faster search in progress
The entire content of Kulturarw3 is stored on tape. This means that it takes several minutes to load each page after a search. The National library is working on developing a faster handling that picks all information from hard disks.
Have we collected from your site?
The National library uses special software to collect material from all websites in the .se domain.
The collection is done during long web crawlings lasting several months. One or two such general crawlings are conducted per year. We also do selective crawlings from newspaper and political party websites. These are more frequent once a week or every day.
How does web crawling affect your website?
Are you responsible for a website in the .se domain? We aim to ensure that the normal operation of the websites we collect from is not disrupted.
- If you want to make sure that we are the ones visiting your site:
The IP numbers we use are 193.10.72.192/27, i.e. 193.10.72.193-193.10.72.222. - If you want to reduce the load from our collections:
Add a line, e.g. "Crawl-delay: 7" in a robots.txt file at the top level of your website, and we will add a 7 second pause between each call.
