Most of our collection items are held in closed storage rooms and need to be ordered in advance of your visit. There are also specific daily delivery times. Read more about how to search our collections.

When you come to collect your library card at the information and loans desk on the ground floor, you will need to provide a current ID card and be aged 18 or older.

Most of the material held by KB can only be studied on site as reading room loans. This is mainly because the library holds a national copy that is to be preserved and available for reading and research, both today and for future generations.

KB also holds a large collection of acquired foreign literature. This collection consists mainly of literature for research purposes within the fields of humanities and social sciences. Read more about foreign literature.

In order to access audiovisual material, you will need both a library card issued by KB, and to register as a user in the Swedish Media Database (Svensk mediedatabas, SMDB) External link..

As a user of KB's collections, it is important that you handle the material with care. Much of our material is available in a single copy only, which is intended to be preserved for future generations. That is why you may not bring food or drink into the library.

There is a dedicated area for visitors who wish to eat a packed lunch.
