Hjäl­p oss att få hem de stul­na böcker­na

Under nio års tid blev Kungliga biblioteket bestulet på värdefulla böcker. Än idag pågår arbetet med att få tillbaka de saknade böckerna.

År 2004 upptäckte personal på KB att flera böcker saknades från biblioteket. Det blev startskottet för ett omfattande arbete med att inventera KB:s samlingar. Till slut kunde man konstatera att 62 av KB:s äldre och mer värdefulla böcker var stulna, och att stölderna pågått systematiskt under nio års tid (1995–2004).

Det visade sig att den skyldige var anställd som förstebibliotekarie på KB. För att kunna sälja böckerna vidare utomlands manipulerade han dem. Till exempel dolde han böckernas proveniens – deras unika historia – genom att skrapa bort signaturer och skära sönder sidor.

Sedan upptäckten pågår ett aktivt arbete med att försöka hitta och återfå böckerna som stals. Hittills har 19 böcker lämnats tillbaka till KB.

Föreläsning om stölderna

Greger Bergvall och Jan Ottosson, båda bibliotekarier på KB, och Lars Korsell, forskare vid Brottsförebyggande rådet, berättar om arbetet med att spåra och återbörda de stulna böckerna. De tar även upp problematiken med brott från biblioteks insidor och den internationella bokmarknaden.
