The review of a project request often involves several departments within the National Library. As part of the process, we consider:

• the scope of the National Library’s involvement in the project
• whether the National Library’s involvement is funded by the project
• if not funded – how significant the investment is for the National Library in relation to the expected benefits to the research infrastructure

The purpose of the review is to make a well-informed decision and to communicate that decision clearly to you as a researcher. In dialogue with you, the review group prepares the basis for the National Library’s decision on whether to participate in the project. Decisions are then made by:

• the head of the department contributing the most to the project (in most cases)
• the relevant unit manager at the National Library (for less complex projects)
• the National Librarian (in cases involving major considerations that affect the entire institution)

After your request has been approved, you will receive information about the terms of the National Library’s participation in the project. It is important that you include these terms, along with the National Library’s reference number (diarienummer), in your application to the research funder.

Once you have finalized and submitted your application, please also send a copy to the National Library.

Once your project has been awarded funding by a research funder, a project lead will be appointed at the National Library. This person is responsible for ensuring that the National Library’s deliverables within the project are met and will also serve as your main point of contact throughout the project period.

Please send the National Library copies of any interim and final project reports for our reference.
