Find and request foreign literature
The National Library holds a large collection of foreign academic literature, mainly in the humanities. Books in this collection can, in most cases, be borrowed for home use.
How it works
- Foreign books acquired within the past year are on display in the library and do not need to be ordered in advance. You borrow these using the self-service machine next to the information and loans desk.
- Books that are not on display can be found and ordered through our search service Regina

- You can order up to seven volumes at a time.
- You will be notified by email when the material is available at the information and loans desk.
- Orders placed during the day will be available by 15:00 the following working day.
- Orders placed on Saturday or Sunday will be available by 15:00 the following Monday.
- Ordered material will be held for seven opening days.
- The loan period for home loans is 30 days. Loans are automatically renewed for up to one year, provided no other user has placed a reservation.
